このタイトルは80年代のSF映画"ブレードランナー"の原作、フィリップ・K・ディックのSF小説、
"Do androids dream electric sheep?アンドロイドは電気羊の夢をみるか"よりとっています。
遺伝子工学の進化が人クローンも生み出すという、ディック的悪夢がまさに現実のものとなった時代、
今わたしたちはなぜ擬似世界に夢中になるのでしょうか?
フィギュア、ロボット、間接人形、ジオラマ、3DCG、など今増殖しつつある、
さまざまなディック的擬似世界のものたちを集めたエキジビションプログラム。

The title of this exhibition is taken from Philip K. Dick's classic science fiction novel, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, the original work that the 1980s film Blade Runner was based on.
When advancements in genetic engineering have made human cloning, a Dicksian nightmare a contemporary reality, why are we still obsessed with the simulacral world?
"Do androids dream? IX " will bring together a selection of the ever-growing world of robotic simulacra such as figures, robots, dolls, dioramas, and 3DCG, stimulated by the world of Dick.

Chiaki Okabe "Mild Industrial Waste"
Nothing has made a stronger impression on me of "new era" than the time I saw the footage of external fertilization process.
Needling through a round transparent egg – it's nothing but just eroticism. I have no idea how that new life's doing today, but in my mind,
it still lives on as a photographic memory.
I tightly bolt down that obsession with a relatively small screw, and forcefully put it into painting.
I pretend that I'm a scientist, not to forget the day I saw that needle, and not to let go of that soft flesh.
